Tuesday March 6th 2017 visit to Baycrest

We set off early to use the subway and then catch a bus to speak with Marilyn Reed Audiology Practice Advisor at Baycrest

re Dementia and Sensory Challenges and how they deal with this

We had a lively conversation with the team exchanging knowledge then a walk round department they even have a room of equipment patients can try out

I was so inspired lots of best practice with knowledge of dementia as well as audiology a great passionate team working at both levels hands on with the patients and at the academic level with the University of Toronto involved and participating with research

Next we meet we meet Dr. Kelly Murphy clinical Neuropsychologist Neuropsychology and Cognitive Health again great knowledge Exchange

They are working on art and Dementia and I agreed to participate in their project

I also promised to link Kelly up with Rheinhard Gus so they can Exchange knowledge

The art work around Baycrest was impressive we then went to see the dedicated art room that the residents of the hospital and home use

The two artists were preparing a project they proudly told us of their art sessions
Then told stories of patients with Dementia and Sensory Challenges

It’s after 5pm we have to make the return journey home and I am so tired unfortunately this meant I had to forgo my hooked for visit to the long stay nursing home so much information to digest but I am inspired and buzzing
